Background & Challenges: 

Our client is a leading political figure. Within the framework of an upcoming election, he uses Altrnativ Protect to carry out a complete inventory of his digital footprint.

Result:

Our investigation was very fruitful, indeed we were able to identify :

• The address and the personal phone number of our customer
• His official signature
• Trace all his professional and personal links (collaborators, friends, family, …)
• More worrying we found on the internet following a data leak elements on the state of health of the political leader.

Benefit:

Following this audit, we accompanied our client in the implementation of a corrective action plan allowing him to regain a digital hygiene. This mission allowed our client to increase the awareness of his professional and personal entourage to good digital practices and to protect him from potential threats.

Context & stakes: 

Our client wishes to benefit from a supervision of the social networks on the occasion of its General Meeting of shareholders. Members of the COMEX suspect targeted communication actions to destabilize the company.

Result:

We set up a monitoring during the 3 phases of the event: before, during and after. Our monitoring revealed several anomalies:

• Users on social networks were located in Asia
• The attacks on all the social networks were simultaneous
• After verification, the vast majority of the profiles were fake

Benefit:

Our study allowed our client to confirm his suspicions and to conduct a more thorough investigation.

AUDIT OF EXPOSURE TO DIGITAL THREATS

Context & issues:

A family tried to obtain housing from the city services by presenting a letter signed by the Mayor. Following internal checks, it turned out that the document presented was a fake. Following this incident, the Mayor decided to conduct a threat exposure audit to establish his digital footprint.

Result:

Our investigation was very successful, indeed we were able to identify:

• Personal addresses and phone numbers
• His official and private signature
• Trace all his professional and personal links (collaborators, friends, family, …)
• More worrying we were able to identify documents signed by the Mayor, some of which are forgeries.

Benefit:

The elements provided by our supervision cell, social network profiles, videos, images have allowed to bring additional key evidence for the judiciary of these wild rodeos.

SUPERVISION OF SOCIAL NETWORKS | RODEO MOTOCROSS FIGHT | COMMUNE | FRANCE

Context & stakes:

Cities are the scene of wild motorcycle rodeos and fighting this plague is a difficult equation. It is necessary to fight against the nuisances and the danger that the inhabitants undergo while preserving the safety of the drivers. Our client is involved in a process of research of qualified information in order to find the drivers and the places of storage of the motorcycles and to allow the legal treatment. It is within this framework that we carried out a supervision of the social networks in order to supplement the ground intelligence.

Result:

In just 24 hours we were able to identify the social network profiles of the drivers (Snapchat, Instagram, Tik-Tok) and also to establish perimeters of storage places of the motocross in the city. This information allowed the National and Municipal Police to set up dedicated surveillance systems (field investigation, city cameras,) and to alert the social landlords of the buildings where the motorcycles are stored.

Result: a raid was carried out by the police in order to arrest the individuals and seize the vehicles.

CARTHOGRAPHY OF LINKS | CAC 40 COMPANY | FRANCE

Context & stakes:  

During an internal strategy meeting, the content of the meeting “leaked” and was the subject of an article in a national newspaper. Following this event. Our client asked us to conduct a due diligence on all the participants of this meeting.
Objective: to provide scenarios on the origin of the leak in the press.

Result:

Our investigation matrix is based on our expertise in the fields of OSINT, SOCMINT and strategic analysis of the collected data. In order to meet our client’s request, we conducted a two-step due diligence:

1. The mapping of the links between the participants;
2. The screening of more than thirty profiles.

Our investigation revealed that some collaborators had risky profiles: possible collusion with competing companies and organizations serving foreign interests.

Benefit:

The combination of the two steps allowed us to elaborate several possible/probable scenarios and to sensitize our client on the shifting and complex political and geopolitical context that is currently taking place in the country concerned by the investigation. In light of the context, the concatenated elements and the scenarios, our client was able to confirm his doubts and to initiate a more in-depth investigation.

FRAUDULENT MAILING CAMPAIGN | LOCAL AUTHORITY | FRANCE

Context & stakes:  

A local authority has installed the Secure solution since April 2021. On June 15, around 10:30 a.m., Secure blocked more than 3,000 connection attempts to a phishing site: https://racingturtlesg07.000xxxwebhostapp.com/

Result:

The community was targeted by a phishing campaign to all employees. This failed attempt at a cyber attack was quickly spotted by the IT teams, who were able to identify the malicious email and warn the agents in order to stem its spread and proceed to delete the email.

Benefit:

Thanks to the Secure solution, our client thwarted a mass phishing attempt. He then carried out an awareness campaign on the cyber risks for the employees of the community.

AVIATION SUPERVISION

AIRPORT | EUROPE

Context & stakes: 

On the tarmac, airport teams use heavy devices for the supervision of aircraft on the ground and in flight. Our customer wanted to equip its airports with an agile device allowing a complete and continuous aerial supervision of all aircraft on the ground and on approach.

Result of the investigation:

Altrnativ installed a customized device at an international airport to capture all ADSB, ACARS and VDL frames. The frames are then retrieved and aggregated to have spatio-temporal information and a constant view of the fleets as well as the airspace in the area.

Benefit:

The airport teams now have at their disposal a complete supervision tool that allows them to monitor air traffic, to carry out better maintenance of their fleets and also to prevent air risks such as collisions or material damage.

With just a few clicks, the supervisor can access all the information (flight number, fuel, door status, speed, heading, etc.) and then filter the data to choose to display only the desired flights, view arrival and departure graphs, the status of flights, produce statistics on delays, check the weather conditions or monitor the aircraft on the ground.

Our client is fully satisfied with this first system and is now considering equipping all of the airports it manages with our technology.
